What is the TSA Precheck?
TSA Pre✓®
TSA (Transportation Security Administration) Pre-check or TSA Pre✓® is an expedited security screening program connecting travelers departing from the United States with smarter security and a better air travel experience. Passengers considered low-risk who qualify for the program can receive expedited screening either as a member of the program or another specific trusted traveler group.
The following airlines offer TSA Pre✓®:
- Air Canada
- Alaska Airlines
- American Airlines
- Delta Air Lines
- Hawaiian Airlines
- JetBlue Airways
- OneJet
- Southwest Airlines
- Sun Country
- United Airlines
- Virgin America
- WestJet
- Complete the online application or you can complete the entire process in person at an application center.
- Schedule an appointment online or by calling (855) 347-8371 weekdays, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. ET. Walk-ins are welcome but appointments take priority.
- Visit an application center to:

- Provide required documentation and fingerprints. Bring your current U.S. passport or a driver’s license and birth certificate. See other acceptable documents.
- Pay a non-refundable $85 fee valid for five years with a credit card, money order, company check or certified/cashier’s check.
- You can check your status online at any time.
The name used when applying for TSA Pre✓® must match the name used when booking travel.
Eligibility
TSA Pre✓® Application Program Members
The TSA Pre✓® application program membership is open to U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals and lawful permanent residents.
Applicants may be ineligible due to:
- Incomplete or false application information.
- Violations of transportation security regulations.
- Disqualifying criminal offenses and factors.
Trusted Traveler Groups
If you belong to one of the trusted traveler groups listed below, you do not need to apply to the program.
- Members of U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Global Entry, SENTRI and NEXUS programs. To learn more, visit dhs.gov/tt.
- U.S. active duty military, National Guard and reserve members.
- DoD civilian employees and certain other federal government employees, such as those with certain security clearances.
Individuals who commit certain federal security violations will be disqualified from TSA Pre✓®. These violations include, but are not limited to, interfering with security operations, access control violations, providing false or fraudulent documents, making a bomb threat, bringing a firearm, explosive or other prohibited items to an airport. The disqualification period depends on the severity of the violation and/or a history of repeated violations.
